Hokitika Visitor Information
Hokitika lies on the State Highway 6 on the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand.
Popularly known as ‘Hoki’, Hokitikia has a population of about 4,500 which increases to over 35,000 every year at the time of the Hokitika Wildfoods Festival.
Getting to Hokitika
- By Road – either by rental car (Greymouth and Westport typically have rental car depots), private car or by bus – services include the InterCity bus services, Atomic Shuttles, Coast to Coast Shuttle and Alpine Coach Runs.
- By Air – Air New Zealand provides daily flights between Christchurch and Hokitika. The airport lies a short distance north-east of the town.
